Rope – A Stunt Riggers Guide
Rope is the primary tool that is used for Stunt Rigging. It is therefore one of the most important components of rigging to understand.
Having a thorough understanding and knowledge of rope and its uses will enable you to make the right choices for the application at the time. This is one of the more critical decisions a Rigger can make when planning and implementing a rig. The decision to use a certain type of rope will be based on the forces that will be applied to the rig, the Performer, the environment and on the anchor points.
Knots and splices are the means by which ropes are then incorporated into a rig. Having a broad knowledge of ropes will allow you to make good decisions when choosing what knot to tie or which splice to do.
Building Rapport
Having rapport with other people is the best way to ensure that you have a clear and concise line of communication.
Set Etiquette
Set etiquette is all about how you conduct yourself on set, which could be in a sound stage or at a location.
The word Etiquette means:
‘The customary code of polite behavior in society or among members of a particular profession or group’
Knowing how to conduct yourself in a professional manner is one of the most important parts of working in the film industry. It is almost considered a skill in itself.
